The Navy has begun wear testing of the old new Service Dress Khaki uniforms for E-7 and above. It’s a pretty snazzy throwback, so I’m interested to see how it all turns out.
Personally, I don’t see the point of the new uniform. Navy Times says that:
The uniform allows for chiefs and officers to shift from service khaki to service dress khaki by adding a black tie and jacket.
Unfortunately, as far as I know, Service Khaki comes in short sleeves only, and there’s certainly no top button to support wear of a tie. So, in essence, we’ve made another uniform to wear. And for what purpose? Some of the boards out there have said that the Navy asked CPO’s fleetwide about this uniform back in the 90′s, and the answer was a resounding “NO!” but I guess it’s time time re-hash old ideas.
Such is the Navy way.
Guess I’m going to have to start rocking the Khaki Combo cover again.
