Michael Yon is the closest thing this generation has to Ernie Pyle. While Ernie certainly got more coverage for his dispatches than Michael is for his, the job that Michael Yon is doing is equally dangerous, equally brave, and I dare say more necessary.
As the media coverage of the war dips into the low, low, low single digits concerning percentage of air time, Michael is heading back to Iraq to make sure the real stories are being told.
