Every time I think Submariners and coffee I can't get that (True) story out of my mind--think I read it in Ed Beach's compendium of WWII Submarine stories "Submarine." --where for years an old Chief was famous for getting the Skipper his coffee hot from the galley and up to the Con w.o. spilling a drop no matter how rough the seas. Then one day a JO just happened to see him in action and the secret was out. Just before he started up the ladder to the Con he SWALLOWED the COFFEE!--held it in his mouth--then spit it out back into the cup once he'd navigated the climb.! LOL!! (Can't remember which sub, tho.) A classic!
