A runaway barge beaches itself along the coastline in Sandbridge, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Locals are coming by in droves to see the barge, which sits just next to the fishing pier along the south end of the beach at Little Island Park.

Cry Me a River

Boo-effing-Hoo….

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the accused Fort Hood gunman, is paralyzed from the waist down, his lawyer said Friday.

“It appears he won’t be able to walk in the future,” said Hasan’s civilian attorney, retired Army Col. John Galligan.

There’s 13 other people who will never walk again either, so excuse me if pity well is running a little dry for you, Major.

Whiskey Tango Friday

You know what phrase I love? “Shit, or get off the pot.”

It’s always amused me. But it certainly speaks to what I always told guys when training to be OOD, “Look, whatever you do, make a decision and go. If it’s the wrong one, you’ll find out pretty quick and can change direction, but sitting there doing nothing is rarely the right answer.”

Seems those in the upper-upper-chain of command may not have had such excellent mentorship..

President Barack Obama does not plan to accept any of the Afghanistan war options presented by his national security team, pushing instead for revisions to clarify how and when U.S. troops would turn over responsibility to the Afghan government, a senior administration official said Wednesday.

Having an exit strategy is not necessarily a bad idea. My problem with it is, you can’t plan on how to get out when you haven’t fully committed to going in yet.

That’s the problem. Committing to something. Anything.

If we don’t we’re committing to repeating history.

Veteran’s Day

picture-3

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died.
Rather we should thank God that such men lived.

Wrap Up

You know, I’d like to comment on the FT Hood incident, but I really can’t top the summation of the reasons why that Lex has done here.

I just hate saying I told you so.

But, here’s on story from the front lines. As they dropped Major Hasan, people in the room were apparently shouting “Two more! Two more!”

Officers on scene thought they meant there were two more shooters.

They meant to put two more bullets in the man.

gotta love Texas.

Whiskey Tango Friday

SGTFigueroa

Keeping the WTF serious today for FT Hood.

I hope this doesn’t go where I think it does.

But judging by the video of the Major in a convenience store, and the length of his shalwar kameez, I don’t think I’m wrong.

The Best Marine is a Submarine

Hooyah. MCPON’s favorite phrase.

Hooah. Army’s favorite phrase.

This critique is not a witch hunt. Submarine Force’s favorite phrase.

I kid. But here’s an interesting tidbit for you.

marines

Rig that space for DIVE, MAGGOT!

Oorah. Marine Corps’ fav-o-rite phrase. Where’d it come from, you ask? You make thank the Marines attached to a submarine during the Korean war, and the distinctive sound of the klaxon (the old one, not that crappy electronic one we use now as a poor excuse for a diving alarm). Continue reading
